Jonathan Slack

Hi, my name's Jonathan and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance! I've been gaming for the last 18-19 years now, having discovered the likes of Adi Junior, Monkey Island and Lemmings on the Amiga. Though it wasn't until a chance encounter with a friend's copy of Donkey Kong Country on the SNES at the tender age of 6 that truly ignited my passion for gaming. Fast forward 17 years and here I am with my Playstation 3, a mid-range gaming PC and a Nintendo Wii and DS, a Psychology graduate of the University of Leeds at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Where am I going right now? Hard to say really. Feel free to hit me up on the Playstation Network or through my information below if you want to talk about anything. If adding me on PSN I'd appreciate a message explaining who you are or else I'm liable to ignore you.

Gravity Rush Review

One might reasonably argue that Assassin’s Creed and Super Mario Galaxy revolutionised thought processes underpinning the assumptions of what constitutes enjoyable navigation in third person action games. Being able to climb up and around just about any wall or building and navigate between them via parkour elements with Altair was a genuine pleasure for …

Alien Rage – Unlimited Review (PC)

Where pure-blood first person shooters are concerned, Alien Rage has exposed my dearth of experience with the genre. Some limited time spent with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Fallout 3 represent my only experiences in this direction and I much prefer the latter thanks to their ability …

Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers Review (PSN)

If you’re not familiar with Magic: The Gathering, or you are a returning player from yesteryear, then this title is a solid place to start with. Several issues with the title lead me to believe that you’d be better off with the paper form of magic to learn the ins and outs of the game, …

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze coming to Wii U

Nintendo have pulled the curtains on Retro Studio’s new project  “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze“, a new entry in the Donkey Kong country franchise, to be released later this year. Immediately noticeable in the trailer below is a rejig of how the barrel blasting segments play out: the camera spins around more to create more …
