Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH’s long-running Dancing Stage series heads to Xbox 360 in Q4, as the publisher unveils Dancing Stage Universe for the system.
Konami will release Dancing Stage Universe as part of a bundle deal, comprising a hard-wearing dance mat controller and a copy of the game. The Dancing Stage series has been entertaining social gamers for over ten years to date, and Dancing Stage Universe adds a wealth of new features to the series. Using the supplied dance mat controller, players are charged with matching on screen arrows with corresponding foot movements. As the player gets better, the ante is upped with more complex routines, while multi-player modes allow several people to compete head-to-head.
Players can select over 60 songs from the in-game library, with a mix of slow and fast-paced tracks designed to test the player’s timing and co-ordination. Leading the line up for Dancing Stage Universe are ‘Lonely at the Top’ by The Ordinary Boys, The Fratelli’s ‘Chelsea Dagger’, and ‘Acceptable in the 80s’ by Calvin Harris. Each tune is accompanied by its relevant promo video, over which the in-game graphics are superimposed.
Konami will also be selling the mats individually, allowing, for the first time ever, three 360 users to connect mats to their console, thus making for the largest single-machine multi-player version to date. A new ‘Continuous’ mode will also mix tracks to create an ongoing playlist, while the ‘Workout’ and ‘Quest’ modes have been enhanced. Dancing Stage Universe also features full Xbox Live connectivity, with tracks to download and online play supported, allowing users from all over the world to take each other on.
