Devil May Cry 4 Review (PS3)

Awesome must buy.

Many, many moons ago, I picked up the original Devil May Cry, spent 10 or so minutes on this and thought: ?its not bad, its fun, I like it.? Oh how things have come along since then!!

Devil May Cry 4, the supposed sequel to Devil May Cry 2 (with surrounding debate), has so much more to offer than the previous titles.

We’ll start with the graphics; its like watching pornography, only without the porn. Cut scenes are just biblical, and the in game graphics aren’t far behind. You also get the button mashing game-play style that fans have grown to love. I even played 10 minutes with my eyes closed in automatic mode, and survived! How cool is that?! Having said that though, the game is not easy either, let me explain.

Devil May Cry 4 (…) has so much more to offer than the previous titles

You see, many other reviewers have said this game is a little too easy. They failed to mention that they played the game on the easiest mode, ?human? with the auto-aim switched on. This game is clear able, obviously, but in terms of difficulty? I died countless of times, while playing it in normal mode “devil hunter” with auto switched off. And! I have only attempted the equivalent to hard “son of sparda” once, because at the moment it seems I need more health. Which also makes the 101 rooms of the ?bloody palace? seem impossible.

So. Brilliant game then, nothing else to say. Not quite.Devil May Cry 4

We’ll start with the new character Nero, I just love grabbing enemies, killing them simply by button mashing, but when I make the switch back to Dante, who more or less as the same play mechanics as in DMC3, he seems, not really as playable. Its hard to describe really, I just keep thinking to myself ?I could have easily grabbed that enemy to up my style points with Nero? or, ?I could be kicking the wind out that boss with Nero.?

Then there is the Gothic sound track. I’m not really a Gothic fan, however I just adored the soundtrack to the previous three titles, but with this one… There just isn’t enough variety. There needs to be more of it.

But these don’t even ruin the experience. Its eye swirling, mind boggling , heart racing good!

There is even an online scoreboard. For competitive people, people who strive to be the best at everything, which at the moment seems to be dominated by the Japanese.

If there is one thing that really drives me up the wall about this game is that Capcom, the company behind the Devil May Cry series, in this world of money and marketing decided to release the new title on the Xbox 360 as well.

Sony fanboy! You curse. Err no. You see Devil may Cry belongs on the Playstation like Mario Belongs on the Nintendo. The only reason why Capcom gave the Xbox Devil May Cry is to make more money. But this in turn now means Playstation owners have nothing to brag about. Nothing to say ?HAHA! Look what I’ve got? because of course, xbox owners will have it too.

The Good: Gameplay; Graphics;
The Bad: Soundtrack- not enough of it
