Bossa Studios today confirmed that Surgeon Simulator 2013 is to be included in the fifth set of games to advance through Steam Greenlight, and be offered worldwide distribution via Steam. What evolved from a prototype, made in just 48 hours at the Global Game Jam in January, has quickly become a YouTube sensation, as gamers everywhere enjoyed the comical, tricky and downright messy gameplay. Numerous videos and memes have popped up all over the internet and total video views are over 20 million.

Commenting on the announcement, Henrique Olifiers, Bossa CEO said, “We are just blown away by the positive reaction we’ve had to this demo and to the hilarious and occasionally bizarre videos our community has already made. What started as a bit of fun has become a global phenomenon and we literally can’t wait to see the full game for sale on Steam. We’re going as fast as we can! Kudos to the team – Tom Jackson, James Broadley, Luke Williams & Jack Good.”

The Steam version will include additional operations to perform as well as new features and modes. Full details, including price and release date, will follow.
