Game Gets Rescue Plan and It’s All Change at the Top. (ARTICLES)

It has been a dramatic few weeks for GAME, but it looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel.

Game Gets Rescue Plan and Its All Change at the Top.

Over the weekend, the BBC reported that investment firm Opcapita would be buying a “large part” of GAME.  This will keep over 300 stores open and save more than 3000 jobs.

Today, Games news site MCV are reporting that former Gamestation MD, Martyn Gibbs, will now take a role within GAME as CEO. This comes after news that David Hammid will become the new Chariman for GAME.

Let’s hope that this is all as good as it sounds.  Personally I feel that GAME still has a massive part to play in the UK games industry, but totally agree that they need to radically change their minds on digital delivery.  What do you all think?

Check out UKIE Chairman Andy Payne discussing  the plans on the BBC News program.
