Ninja Gaiden Sigma Review (PS3)

Groundhog day…with added Ninpo

For their first outing on the PS3, Team Ninja have decided to revisit one of their finest moments on the original X-Box console,. Ninja Gaiden Black.

I’ve just thought, there may actually be some of you out there that haven’t played the original. Right, for you few Ninja Gaiden Black is an action adventure slash `em up of the highest calibre. Gameplay, graphics and sound where some of the best witnessed on the not so little black box. The ?Black? in the title actually signifies the fact this it was a revision of a game that came out 12 months before the Classics version that was Black- you may say Ninja Gaiden was ?Back in Black?! Now main problem with the original game was even the basic `cannon fodder` baddies were hard to kill and there seemed to be sooooo many of the buggers! As for the boss battles- I know a few people who gave up without defeating the first boss in his dojo(I at least got to the second boss when I played Black!).

This game aint for the faint hearted?or the casual gamer

For all you who found it too hard (ok?. me included!) Ninja Gaiden Black ramped up the action and the difficulty level was changed- if you die three times (usually within the first hour!) then the difficulty level `Ninja Dog` is available to you. The enemy AI is more forgiving?and you get to wear a pink bracelet to show you aren’t the rock hard ninja mutha you should be!
As well as the extra difficulty levels, we were treated to the inclusion of both of the `Hurricane ` packs that came as extra content on X-Box Live. (Which included the camera fix!) Add to that a new mission mode, which must have at least a million levels of arena style pure combat with different weapons and adversaries! They also chucked in the arcade version of the original Ninja Gaiden (one for you retro gamers out there).

So what do we get this time for the ?Next Generation??.erm, well we get the same game as Ninja Gaiden Black with high definition graphics and?..well that’s about it really.
Ok so you do actually get another few missions to play with some chick called Rachael who weilds a massive chopper (oh err misses!), but since the original hero Ryu has all the best moves- you soon get bored of watching this partially clad monster hunter going theu the motions. There is also the option to charge yer ninpo (that`s Ninja
magic to the heathens out there!)by shaking yer sixaxis controller like there is no tomorrow.

Ninja Gaiden SigmaIf you have not played this game previously on the X-BOX and are one of those people who are complaining that games are too easy these days (and call yourself a ?Hardcore? gamer), then you are gonna love this sublime slice of ninja based action adventure.
This game aint for the faint hearted?or the casual gamer ? but is 100 times better than Genji!

The Good: It`s got ninjas, and looks sooo good it will make yer eyes bleed!
The Bad: It`s sooo damn hard- it has a learning curve thats vertical!
