Carcassonne Comes to Life on Xbox LIVE Arcade (360)

Carcassonne, an award-winning strategy board game from Hans im Glck, now has a videogame version exclusively on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360? videogame and entertainment system. Developed and published by Sierra Online, Carcassonne is set in a medieval countryside where players amass points by strategically placing tiles and claiming land, completing towns, roads and farms.

YARS?Carcassonne is a compelling game of clever strategic planning that is suited perfectly for the interactive world,? said Ed Zobrist, president, Sierra Online. ?Now people can instantly play Carcassonne against the game’s electronic opponents or with friends and family together in their own living room or even with players from around the world.?

The game is designed for one to five players who draw from a pool of tiles to create a beautiful ever growing medieval landscape. Players master this world by owning the largest towns, longest roads and biggest farms, not to mention a monastery or two.

Carcassonne for the Xbox LIVE Arcade goes well beyond the board game; animated building of the towns and roads are accompanied by sound effects and fireworks to bring the game alive. There are three challenge modes for solo player games (easy, medium and hard). Also, the automatic scoring allows players to focus entirely on strategy.

Carcassonne features multiplayer modes allowing up to five players to compete together online on Xbox LIVE and up to four players on a single Xbox 360. The title supports the Xbox LIVE Vision camera allowing players to Interact with new and old friends alike over Xbox LIVE while playing Carcassonne.

True to the original German board game, Carcassonne includes 72 tiles and all rule sets. The game will also launch with the Rivers 1 expansion pack, which includes 12 additional tiles that allow players to add the developments of rivers to their game experience.
