The elder scrolls IV Oblivion Review (PC)

living another life

First off. This game is very good and nicely done. when you take you first steps in the world Cyrodiil, you’ll be amazed by the lavishly detailed setting. But a word of warning first. The elder scrolls serie is about doing you’re own stuff. There is a plot or story, and a good one for a fact, but you could get lost not knowing what to do next. you have the freedom of going where you want and acting like you want. some players find it hard to be free with this kind of content but to the sheer fan’s of the series it is a work of art. so be warned.

If you look back on Morrowind and it’s add-on’s (Tribunal and Bloodmoon) you notice one really big difference. NPC’s are not in one place. they go around doing there stuff and living there life. it feels like the world is a bit alive for that matter. so that’s a big plus. also the world itself look’s alive. tree’s wave a bit and the canopies gives off a nice shade in the sun. grass and flowers are along side a stream and in the mountains there wages a snowstorm. speaking of the mountains. You can go any place you like. the mountains you see in the background are really there and you can go there. stand on top of it to find you looking into the valley you just went through. but to be honest, you get used to this in a few hours. the world is active and bethesda did a really nice job making you feel as part of it all. one thing I hate is the inventory management. but hey, don’t all rpg’s have them?

The Good: Good atmosphere, Large setting, open ended, custom character, good detail on graphics, good sound and NPC voice’s, Story is good.
The Bad: loading times, inventory management, memory problems (patch), official online content comes with a price tag.
