Ukie relaunches askaboutgames.com

Ukie is delighted to announce that is has re-launched askaboutgames.com – as a place for parents and families to find out more about video games. The video games industry leads the way with child safety features such as parental controls and age ratings. The new, trusted site will provide parents and those buying games with the information on how to use them fully and responsibly, to ensure that their children can enjoy a safe games experience.

The new site, edited by Andy Robertson of Family Gamer TV (youtube.com/familygamertv), will be the first point of call for those looking for information on parental controls, age ratings and safe, fun family games experiences as well as being the place to share the views, experiences and conversations of fellow gamers, encouraging them to ask questions.

The new website supports Ukie’s wider Control.Collaborate.Create. campaign that is launching  to coincide with PEGI becoming the sole UK age ratings system for video games at the end of July.

The askaboutgames site will play an integral part in delivering the wider campaign’s messages with information and tips for parents, and showcases of how playing video games is a collaborative and creative experience for everyone

Ukie CEO, Dr Jo Twist said: “We’re really pleased to have re-launched the askaboutgames website as a place where everyone, especially parents and carers of children can find out more about how to get the best out of game playing.

“Games are a great way for families to get together and playing them can have so many benefits. But we know that parents have questions about what types of games their children should be playing, understanding how to have the conversation with their children about certain content, and how they should be enjoying games – askaboutgames.com gives them the answers.

“The askaboutgames site, which we will be supporting on an on-going basis, will also give parents and carers information about PEGI age ratings, parental controls, what to look out for when playing online games and provide video guides about the latest technology and games.”

Andy Robertson said: “The askaboutgames.com relaunch creates a unique space for families to both learn and discuss how video games can work for them. It’s not just information, or telling families how to play safe, but an ongoing community where we grow and learn about family gaming together.”
