MagniCase Claims to Provide Apple with Answer to Screen Size Issues (IOS)

It’s a rather simple idea, however one that could be the solution to Apple’s size issues. Let’s first take a step back and consider the problem Apple and many iPhone owners had with their device. One of the iPhone’s great perks is its mobility. The lightness of the smartphone renders it very easy to use, leading to high addiction levels. However, rival mobile manufacturing companies have introduced bigger screens which while reducing mobility can amplify the pleasure experienced when viewing content on the phone. Apple however does not wish to go down this route and betray the reputation of weightlessness their mobile product enjoys. So what is the solution? Can Apple have their cake and eat it? Mechanical Engineer Hieu Ngyen claims to have found the answer with MagniCase: a magnifying glass which can be attached to the iPhone enlarging the display screen and its content.

The Details

MagniCase allegedly broadens the iPhone’s Retina Display by 150 per cent through a high quality Frensel lens. It provides a 250 grooves per-inch density, which is claimed will provide a resolution on par with the new iPad. According to advertising claims, comparing an iPhone screen with MagniCase to one without is the equivalent of putting a 35inch TV alongside a 52inch one.

Ngyen also maintains that it doesn’t interfere with the handset allowing users to touch and type as normal.

So is this the key to Apple’s screen issues? Will this keep consumers rushing into stores looking for the latest iPhone 4 deals?

Well props must be given to Ngyen as his work is impressively a kick-starter project. Plus, a major perk with the MagniCase is that the iPhone’s Retina display enables the magnification to be achieved without any loss in screen resolution.  However, a flaw is that it isn’t a permanent solution to Apple’s screen issues. The awkwardness of having to constantly pull out a magnifying glass whenever one wants to view content isn’t quite as appealing as just having a larger screen. It does provide Apple with an alternative to having to increase its phone size and will probably prove to be quite popular – in the short term. In the long term however, expect to see MagniCase grow out of fashion just as quickly. The iPhone’s size issues will have to either subsist or find a different solution.
