Guitar hero 3 Review (360)

Hard to put down..!

This is a classic game! At first once I heard about the guitar hero franchise, I tried to put it down in my head, thinking it could not live up to the expectations of the real guitar world. I thought I’d stick to trying to look cool with air guitar. Strong emphasis on trying.

The price tag may be hefty, but trust me it is worth saving for.

But, as fate would have it be, I happened to have a bit of money at the time so decided to go out and get it. One of my good choices.

With the package of guitar hero 3 you also get the guitar and stickers and lots of other goodies. Like christmas all over again! The guitar is a black finished les paul guitar, which is heavy and strong, and is very guitar-like. I was expecting it to be a bit shoddy to be honest.

In the game you can either choose to start your own career of as a guitar player in a band, or if you have two guitars, you can play co-op career, with one player assuming the role of bass player and another guitar. You are given a set list with four tracks to play, if you clear the first four songs, you are given another four songs, and another four songs e.t.c.

Difficulties range from easy to expert, with easy being… well, easy, and expert being MENTALLY hard. As you tour as a guitar player, you earn money from the gigs, which allows you to buy guitars, songs, characters and films from the shop. Which is all very nice and rewarding.

Playing the songs is very easily laid out to use, you put your fingers on one of the colours, and then strum down the strings, or… black object thing, which plays a note. The notes are indicated by the different colour frets, and the colours will go down the screen indicating when you should play the note. Sort of like a dance-mat scenario. Except not so.. girly.

The songs include hits like

Helicopter, Bloc party
Suck my kiss, Red hot chilli peppers
Through the fire and flames, Dragonforce,
One, metallica,

In total there are over 70 songs, which are divided between the set list, and bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are the songs you buy from the shop.

Along with this there is an xbox live option which allows you to play other players around the globe. However, it is not without its flaws, as sometimes the game crashes when looking for a game, and sometimes the game generally lags up when playing online. Which does detract from the whole gaming experience. Along with this, players are not matched together with skill, So a lot of the time you will either get absoloutley destroyed, or you will absoloutley destroy the other player.

I reccomend this game, As It will keep you hooked for quite some time. The price tag may be hefty, but trust me it is worth saving for.

The Good: Good control system, good selection of songs, strong replayability value.
The Bad: Quite a lot of money to shell out on, Could have more songs. Some online difficulties
