Grab on your chainsaw it’s time time kick some ass
Ahh!!!!GEARS OF WAR, a game that has become a must have for every gamer who owns a 360. I remember being bombarded with comments on a forum when i disclosed my darkest secret that i still haven’t put my hands on GOW, with speculations being made that i do not own a 360 and was lying from the very beginning [yeah right]. But honestly, when i put my hands on this game i realised what i was missing on.
Epic has truly created a masterpiece that will go down in the books as one of the greatest games of all time. A game that showed the world of what next gen games can look like. Today i see many of my fellow gamers judging various games on the basis of gears of war. And when that happens you know that you have created something special.
Nothing is more satisfying than putting a chainsaw through your friends head and watching him die, as you give that wicked smile.
I recommend that you skip the casual difficulty level though it may pose a few challenges in the end is pretty much a breezer to pass through. The hardcore is a great place to start out because immediately, from the very first act you are going to feel challenged, and beating the game on insane difficulty is going to be right up there with beating halo on legendary difficulty, a feat your going to tell your friends about for a long time.
The main feature and key to GOW is the revolutionary cover system. Basically you can take cover in any wall ,any tree or any other scenery that you can think of. From there you can fire blindly while in cover or pop out and kill the bad guys. I Personally love this cover system, and when i go back to some other shooters like call of duty i am sitting there wanting this cover system, it’s something that every shooter game can, and should benefit from.
Graphically the game is just absolutely stunning. Basically you are gonna move in bombed out ruins of the city that look really really good, your going to move through a spooky village at night, your gonna move through a mine and even a moving train! GOW is a beautiful-beautiful game to look at.
The story of the game is a bit on the short side and to me it seemed a bit wierd, but the three difficulty level make for an awasome challenge. The game does suffer from a few frame rate issues, but they are not something that you cannot live with. One thing that disappointed me was the boss battles looked and felt kinda cheap, but on the whole a very well rounded game.
Personally my favourite aspect of gears of war is the online play. Playing a death match with your friends via live is a blast, and nothing is more satisfying than putting a chainsaw through your friends head and watching him die as you give that wicked smile.
GEARS OF WAR is truly the killer game that the 360 has been waiting for.
The Bad: Short and kinda wierd story. Some frame rate issues. Boss battles are kinda cheap
