The Review
The latest of the Sam and Max games from telltale is probably one of the most off the wall yet. Zombies have appeared and are roaming the streets attempting to eat people's brains. The hunt for answers leads Sam & max to a castle in stuttgard, belonging to a eurotrash vampire named Jurgen. The freelance police have to find a way to defeat Joergen before his zombie army takes over the world.
I can't really explain it but I feel that this game is just weaker overall than some of the other installmentsThe game is funny and well executed. No surprises there then. One of the differences that I did notice was the game included some more complex puzzles, which was nice, as it added to the life of the game. The game is packed with as much wit and humour as the others and most of the regular characters return. One of the differences I did notice was the lack of Bosco, who is one of my personal favourites, but more on this in next month's review (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more)
I don't really feel that there is an awful lot else I can say about the game that wont contain major spoilers or be repetition of what I say every month about the sam and max games. Well here goes anyway.
This episode is well rounded, funny (although the humour is particularly dry in this episode) and the story is well thought out. On the technical side, the graphics and sound are good, but Jurgen's accent can become irritating pretty quickly (it is a very stereotypical European accent which will grate on you after a while). I can't really explain it but I feel that this game is just weaker overall than some of the other installments, I found some parts of the game less enjoyable and found myself waiting for something funny or interesting to happen. Now I don't know if this is the actual game or just my being annoyed at how telltale have overused stereotypes in the episode for cheap giggles.
The episode is still well worth buying, and will keep you entertained for a couple of hours, but I wouldn't buy this episode unless you are following the series.
