The Review

Sam & Max S2 E2: Moai Better Blues
By now everyone should be familiar with the concept of the Sam & Max episodic adventure games, and for those who aren't, read any of my other reviews from the series any educate yourself!

Now I've got that out of the way, we come to the second game of the second season, and after such a great start to this season, I set my hopes really high for this game. The game starts with a ?Bermuda triangle? invading the neighbourhood, which sam and max must stop. When they have done this, they jump into it to find the source of this madness and end up on the easter island with a mystery to solve.

Sam & Max S2 E2: Moai Better Blues
The game is stuffed full of the usual humour, wit and cynicism that fans of the series will have come to expect. I didn't feel however that this was as funny as the previous instalment Ice station santa. It is still a very good and very funny game, but the humour in this instalment seemed to be aimed more at children. The game still manages to retain the length of the previous episode however, and will last even the most avid adventure gamer a couple of hours.

Graphics are still as good an cartoony as ever and the characters voices sound as you would expect them to. One of my favourite additions was the moai heads, who provide most of the giggles this time around. All of the regular characters make an appearance.

Sam & Max S2 E2: Moai Better Blues
Overall, this game is still good, but to me it doesn't seem as well scripted as some of the previous titles. This is understandable as telltale set the bar higher than ever with their last instalment. Moai better blues will still give people following the series a good laugh, and telltale have taken the advice of reviewers and made the games more challenging, which I find to be a good thing. I would recommend this to people following the series, but if you want a stand alone adventure game, I would advise you to purchase the previous episode.
