The Review
Tell Tale games and Game Tap present the next episode of the Sam and Max mini series, Abe Lincoln Must Die!
First of all check out the reviews of the other episodes:
Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock
Sam & Max Episode 2 : Situation Comedy
Sam & Max Episode 3: The Mole, the Mob, and the Meatball
This time the story revolves around the insane American President. He has started making all kinds of mad laws, Federally mandated group hugs, a pudding embargo and more and guess what, Sam & Max are the only crime fighters in America who can save the people!!
To make a nice change, this episode starts off at the white house. Here your first task is to get into the oval office. From here your mission unfolds in the strangest story from the series yet!
All the old characters are back, with Bosco (again) being my personal favourite!
Tell Tale have obviously listened to the critics of the last episodes and has tried to change the format a little, not much, but just enough to feel slightly different. The puzzles seem a bit more complicated in their solutions, not difficult, just more convoluted!
One thing that stands out for me is the script. This is by far the funniest episode by far and just wait for the musical interlude later in the game!
But what of Honest Abe? Why must he die? Well.... play it and find out. All I will say is, you won't see this one coming.
All that said, I am going to give this a lower mark than my last S&M reviews. Why? well it is just a bit to easy. I felt like I was merely watching a cartoon at times. A very good cartoon, but I just felt a bit left out of the game at times.
I would still recommended it to anyone who has been playing the rest or just enjoys well written adventures. Think of it this way, it costs about $10, or 6 quid in real money. I pay more than that to go to the cinema for 2 hours. At least in this game I got 4 hours out of it and enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than some films I have seen in recent times (Superman...I want that part of my life back please!!)
Available form 22nd of Feb from http://www.gametap.com then general release from 8th of March at http://www.telltalegames.com
