When you think of 2K, you initially think 2K sports with their stunning video game interpretations of ice hockey & basketball, also you may have thought FPS- as they recently produced a couple of pretty amazing examples of that genre- The Darkness & of course, contender for game of the year, Bioshock.
2K have now thrown their hat into the casual gamer market, with their 2K play titles.These include an alliance with kids tv channel Nick jr. and the game I am reviewing now.

A kind of funfair-based warioware, but with more in-depth games and not quite as mental

Carnival: Funfair Games pretty much does what it says on the tin. As it is a Wii title you would expect tons of mini games, and that's basically what we have here. 25 unique games, all with different variations on ,10 different motions using the Wii remote. A kind of funfair-based warioware, but with more in-depth games and not quite as mental. With both single and multiplayer action available from the off, this is the perfect family experience.

First off you get to choose your character from a choice of boy, girl, man & woman. Then dress yourself in some suitable sad looking clothing and its time to experience all the fun of the fair. The game is split into 6 sections, or Alleys as they are called here. Each has a theme and 4 or five games to play. For example, Fortune way has Alley Ball (plays like wii sports bowling), Test your strength (charge up the power by pumping up the remote, then using the remote like a hammer and try and hit the bell), Hoops (basketball type game-nuff said) , collection plate (toss coins onto a plate) and finally The Great Swami (basically a fortune teller machine-kinda like the one in the Tom Hanks movie Big, but not magical as far as I can tell!).

You receive tickets for doing well in games, the better you do-the more tickets you receive. These tickets can be exchanged for prizes and wearable items. In theory this should be the perfect wii game, but unfortunately 2K have yet to perfect the utilisation of the motion sensors in the wii remote. Some games are not responsive enough and become frustrating, others are just damned impossible like the nerves of steel game.
Its not all bad news though, as you are bound to find at least a dozen games you will keep coming back to. Also at a RRP of only £25, it's a bargain and the perfect stocking filler!
