If your site handles any kind of personal data, such as login details, dates of birth etc, then the answer should be should be a resounding No!
But how do you know? Unless you are a skilled hacker you are going to need some help finding out if there are any security holes in your site.
That's where Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner comes in. This suite of tools will scan your site and basically beat the crap out of it to find any security problems. From SQL injection to Cross Site Scripting and everything else in between!
Now some of you may be saying, that's great but there is free tool x, y or z that will do that. That may be true, but very few tools will cover the number of web vulnerabilities that Acunetix will. Also very few, if any, will do it in such a user friendly way.
At it's most basic, all you need to do is enter the URL of your site and hit go. Web Vulnerability Scanner will then go off and do the rest for you. When it is finished it will display a report of problems.
The reports are extremely detailed, showing you everything, from what the hack was to what form / url parameters were affected.
There is even a toolbar that plugs in to FireFox, that will help you scan sites as you browse. Very useful for quick checks.
Web Vulnerability Scanner comes in several versions. First there is the free one. This will scan a site for Cross Site Scripting vulnerabilities. For the small user this will more than likely be enough to at least give you an idea where problems lie on your site.
For the bigger users there is there are a number of different licensing options, ranging from $1445 for a single site all the way up to $6990 for any number of sites.
The full priced version may not be the right solution for your general user, but as I said there is a free version available that should be of great use. The reports are extremely detailed and unless you know your stuff will mean very little to you. But then this is aimed at security specialists, and for them it does the job in a fast and user friendly way.
Highly recommended if you are in the market for a solid Web Vulnerability Scanner and want to be able to do everything with one application.
